  • The short answer is maybe. Each insurance company has different policies, and payout rates. Some companies do not direct bill, others do. The yearly amount covered, each session payout rate, and what level of registration your therapist holds (e.g., Registered Psychologist, Provisional Psychologist, or a Canadian Certified Counselor, Registered Massage Therapist) will affect this answer. Please consult your individual insurance plan for eligibility.

  • The short answer is yes. You can say as little or as much as you feel comfortable during the session. It is always fine to pass on a question that is too difficult. Our psychologists will not relay details shared during the session with others without your written consent, with a couple exceptions:

    1. They are a student. Part of the learning process is to have a supervisor, who is a registered psychologist. In order to assess, guide, and teach the student, portions of your session can be discussed with your student’s supervisor.

    2. Concerns of harm or neglect towards a minor or vulnerable adult.

    3. Concerns about an imminent risk to your safety or the safety of another person.

    4. Subpoena or a court order to provide information as part of a legal proceeding.

  • We offer two options for virtual therapy, Secured Zoom e-meeting and Telephone therapy sessions.

    Zoom e-meeting

Our therapist will email you a link prior to your session. At session time click on the link with your computer, smart phone, or tablet, and follow the steps. If you do not have zoom installed, you can find it here. It is best to have zoom installed prior to session so as to not lose session time. You will need a microphone and camera for zoom sessions.

    Telephone

Our therapist will call you on the phone number we have on file at your session time and provide counseling/therapy via the phone.

  • Our recommendation is to be in a safe, quiet, comfortable location where you will not get disturbed by anyone else (e.g., Spouse, children, roommates etc.). You will get much more out of counselling if you are not disturbed during your session, and feel safe to talk.

  • During your first visit or prior to your first virtual session, you will have paperwork to fill in. This includes contact details, demographics, confidentiality, benefits, and risks of therapy. The next step, which will be your first step during session will be to discuss your goals and objectives, and begin the plan for future sessions, including frequency of visits.

  • Absolutely not. We all need a helping hand from time to time. Your counselor will help you to work through problems, anxieties, stresses, and many other issues that you face. Each person is different, but seeking assistance is not a sign that you are crazy.

  • We offer a free 15-minute consult with our psychologists. Sometimes it is hard to tell if you will be a good fit, and since this is about your health, you want the best fit possible. During the free consult you and the therapists will ask questions of each other to determine if you will be optimal for each other.

  • This is the most asked question that we can’t answer. Everyone is different. While some people only need a few sessions, some individuals may need a year or more to achieve their goals

  • No. You can come as you are. Some insurance companies may require a doctor’s note for insurance coverage, but we require no referrals.

  • We accept Debit, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and E-Transfer.
